Frequently asked questions

Where does the live gas price come from?

Directly from an Ethereum full node via the standard eth_gasPrice JSON-RPC call, fetched fresh each time this page loads (cached for 15 seconds to stay within public rate limits).

Why do NFT mint costs vary so much between collections?

Gas limit depends on the contract's mint function complexity - simple ERC-721 mints can cost under 80,000 gas, while contracts with on-chain metadata, allowlist checks, or multi-token mints can use 150,000+ gas. Use the custom gas limit field if you know the contract's actual gas usage.

Is this the same as what my wallet shows me?

It's the same base gas price and gas limit math your wallet uses, but wallets also add a priority fee (tip) that varies with network congestion at the exact moment you submit - so your wallet's estimate may run slightly higher during busy periods.
