Frequently asked questions

How is mining profitability calculated?

Network hashrate is derived from live difficulty (difficulty × 2^32 ÷ 600s block time). Your share of daily block rewards = your hashrate ÷ network hashrate × 144 blocks/day × block reward. That BTC amount is priced at the live BTC/USD rate, pool fees are deducted, then daily electricity cost (power draw in kW × 24h × $/kWh) is subtracted.

Why does this differ from my mining pool's dashboard?

Pool dashboards use your actual accepted shares and pool-specific payout schemes (PPS, PPLNS, etc), which smooth out luck variance differently than this theoretical average-share calculation. Network difficulty also changes roughly every two weeks, shifting the real number over time.

Does this include hardware cost or depreciation?

No - this is an operating-cost-only profitability estimate (revenue minus electricity and pool fees). It doesn't amortize the upfront cost of the mining hardware itself.
